In The Absence of the Sacred, advertising executive and economist Jerry Mander uncovers the true nature of corporations:

The corporation is not as subject to human control as most people believe it is; rather, it is an autonomous technical structure that behaves by a system of logic uniquely well suited to its primary function: to give birth and impetus to profitable new technological forms, and to spread techno-logic around the globe.

We usually become aware of corporate behavior only when a flagrant transgression is reported in the news: the dumping of toxic wastes, the releasing of pollutants, the suppression of research regarding health effects of various products, the tragic mechanical breakdowns such as at Three Mile Island, in Bhopal, or in Prince William Sound, Alaska. Sometimes we become concerned about a large corporation closing a factory, putting 5,000 people out of work, and moving to another country.

Even when we hear such news, our tendency is to respond as if the behaviors described stem from the people within the corporate structure – people who are irresponsible, dishonest, greedy, or overly ambitious. Or else we attribute the problem to the moral decline of the times we live in, or to the failure of the regulatory process.

Seeing corporate behavior as rooted in the people who work within them is like believing that the problems of television are attributable solely to its program content. With corporations, as with television, the basic problems are actually structural. They are problems inherent in the forms and rules by which these entities are compelled to operate. If the problems could be traced to the personnel involved, they could be solved by changing the personnel. Unfortunately, however, all employees are obligated to act in concert, to behave in accordance with corporate form and corporate law. If someone attempted to revolt against these tenets, it would only result in the corporation throwing the person out, and replacing that person with another who would act according to the rules. Form determines content. Corporations are machines.

Corporations – by their very structure – are forced to exhibit Mander’s eleven inherent rules of behavior: The Profit Imperative, The Growth Imperative, Competition and Aggression, Amorality, Hierarchy, Quantification, Linearity and Segmentation, Dehumanization, Exploitation, Ephemerality, Opposition to Nature, and Homogenization. Form determines content. Corporations are machines.

Corporations do not “need” such things as clean air, justice, truth, beauty or love to survive. The only thing that large for-profit corporations “need” to survive is PROFIT. It is impossible for these corporations to forego significant monetary profits for moral reasons. If managers sacrifice significant profits to save important natural ecosystems or a community’s quality of life, they may be fired and/or subject to stockholder litigation. Management must bend itself to the corporate will and that will is to enrich the rich. Today, the richest 1 percent of America’s families controls 28 percent of the nation’s wealth and 60 percent of the nation’s corporate stock. (one-dollar, one-vote)

Thus, a large corporation may be seen as a man-made life form, a beast with a will of its own: an “economic cyborg.” Visualize a powerful creature that has humans for talons, a bank vault for a heart, computers for eyes and an insatiable need for PROFIT. The economic cyborg – a “terminator” – a machine in human disguise!

Economic cyborgs ingest natural materials (including people) in one end, and excrete un-natural products and waste (including worn-out people) out the other. Cyborgs have no innate morals to keep them from seducing our politicians, subverting our democratic processes or lying in order to achieve their own selfish objectives. Moreover, cyborgs are only nominally controlled by laws, because the people who make our laws are in turn controlled by these same cyborgs. Today in America, we live under the de facto plutocracy of the economic cyborgs. (one-dollar, one-vote)

Paradoxul circuitului monetar

E august, un mic oras pe malul marii…, in plin sezon, ploua torential de citeva zile, orasul arata de parca ar fi parasit.

Toti au datorii si traiesc din credite.

Din fericire vine un rus bogat la un mic hotel cochet. Vrea o camera.
Pune o bancnota de 100$ pe masa receptionerului si se duce sa vada camerele.

Seful hotelului ia repede bancnota si se duce repede sa plateasca datoriile la macelar.

Acesta ia bancnota si se duce repede sa-si plateasca datoria la crescatorul de porci.

Acesta la randul lui se grabeste sa-si plateasca datoriile la cel ce-i livreaza furaje pentru porci.

Cel cu furajele insfaca bancnota si alearga la prostituata pe care nu o mai platise demult. In timpurile astea de criza pina si ea ofera servicii pe datorie!

Prostituata ia bancnota in mina si se grabeste spre hotel, unde fusese cu clientii ultimele zile si unde ramasese datoare.

In acest moment coboara rusul, dupa ce a inspectat camerele, spune ca nici o camera nu-i place, isi ia bancnota si paraseste orasul.

Nimeni nu a cistigat ceva, insa intregul oras traieste acum fara datorii si priveste optimist in viitor!

dar nu te-am batut la cap .. doar ti-am spus despre acest curs in 2 mai 2007. Am si arhiva discutiei. Nu-ti face griji, nu postez nimic fara aprobarea celeilalte persoane. Adica a ta. Eu nu am nimic de ascuns. Tu ?

La ideea de Landmark Forum ai actionat la fel ca si la ideea de a trimite un Cv unde ti-am spus ca exista un vacancy! Nu ai trimis nici un CV, te-ai gandit ca nu esti suficient de buna! Pai aici este semnalul de alarma!

Ai 2 tipuri de manifestari:
1. nu esti suficient de buna sa conduci 5 firme ( desi eu am vazut in tine ca da!!!! ) , LF-ul urma doar sa-ti certifice chestia asta ca esti bua, plus alte nuante DESPRE TINE pe care nu trebuie sa le stiu eu sau ceilalti
2. esti atot - stiutoare intr-un mediu VIRTUAL!, parerile negative de pe internet te-au convins ca LF este o secta / cult si alte balarii.
Este mai usor sa iei niste pareri negative de undeva; stai in tribuna si comentezi, impreuna cu ceilalti comentatori din tribuna! Eu te-am invitat pe teren. Si pentru ca stiu ceva mai multe decat tine despre hipnoza .. afla ca nu exista hipnoza in grup ( in ciuda folclorului), o persoana care Nu vrea sa fie hipnotizata nu este hipnotizata pur si simplu. Deci spalarea pe creier nu se produce. Pentru ca nu exista.
Atunci cand ti-am propus sa mergi la LF era din cauza faptului ca am vazut in tine un lider. Este foarte adevarat ca ai nevoie de timp sa cresti, dar cred si acum ca esti un lider natural. Eram si sunt convinsa in continuare ca daca ai intra in LF nu te opresti nici dupa programul de ILP. De ce ? Pentru ca atat de mare cred eu ca esti. Ca tu te vezi mica .. asta-i din basmul tau.

Mai ai un mesaj pe mess:
- am vazut comentariul pe pisicaverde . Nu-i problema. Crezi ce vrei. Dar ar trebui sa fii atat de onesta cu tine incat sa recunosti ca nu te-am presat sa intri in Landmark Forum. By the way .. NU este o secta, cult etc. Este o organizatie care furnizeaza un curs prin care SCHIMBA PARADIGME ( nota mea: am schimbat forma, caps , pentru ca nu stiu cum pot sa pun bold). Wow ... complicat , nu ? Asta e. Mai ai de invatat despre paradigme. Si despre disonanta cognitiva. Ambele notiuni sunt extrem de importante in marketing.

Si sa stii ca nu m-am suparat! Asa ca nu este nevoie sa ma eviti :P Ai actionat ... ca mine la inceput :D

Aici veti afla despre structura organizatiei, aspecte financiare, subsidiarii, proiecte, notiuni de baza, semnificatia cuvintelor-cheie cu care se opereaza (racket, formula succesului, cerc vicios, posibilitate, inrolare etc). Si, desigur , chestiuni mai distractive, in genul contestarilor, acuzelor de structuri si proceduri sectante, brainwashing, implicatii religioase, secretomanie etc .

Filmul este manipulator, la randul lui, prin prezentarea destul de tendentioasa a faptelor, dar macar contrabalanseaza cele 2 filme pro-landmark care au circulat la un moment dat prin zona.

Ma intreb daca exista vreo legatura intre denumirea forumului si notiunea de landmark in contextul francmasoneriei. Tot landmark se numeste si piramida de pe us dollar.

Din ce am inteles, cursul merita facut cel putin pentru ca se prezinta un mod nou (pentru majoritatea) de introspectie si de stabilire a unor cauzalitati, care sa permita indivizilor sa isi detecteze "erorile de functionare", cauzele lor si sa se "autorepare". Treaba asta e combinata cu un marketing subtil, sugerand o societate secreta. Dar hipnoza in masa prinde, ca orice hipnoza, numai daca te lasi in voia ei.

Voluntariatul ca justificare a serviciilor, existenta unor "nivele" ale cursantilor, termenii vehiculati (inrolare e doar unul din ei), ferestrele opace din salile de curs, voluntarii-"paznici" cu atitudine prietenoasa si ferma, solicitarea tuturor datelor tale personale, sesiunile distrugatoare de cate 10 ore / zi , atmosfera generala - conduc la o tensiune foarte concentrata, cu efect anihilarea personalitatii si opozitiei cursantului, pentru a permite recladirea acesteia, pe un teren ceva mai virgin, intr-o structura refacuta.

Restul (30%) este genul de texte si intalniri care prind bine la oameni cu insigne "slabeste acum/intreaba-ma cum", fanii herbalife si alte retele piramidale, vegetarienii fanatici si categorii cu porniri sectante native.


Inchei aici, nu inainte de a anunta faptul ca atacurile la persona sunt de evitat pe aceasta lista, in favoarea discutiilor la obiect, fara ingerinte emotionale. Ca urmare, antevorbitorii mei sunt acum useri "moderati", iar thread-ul cu acest titlu se opreste aici.
